Hand in Hand: Smiling down on me

When I think of you, I will not cry,
For you are now with Grampy in the sky.
You no longer have to be so lonely,
As you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your pride,
Your sense of Queenliness I shall use as my guide.
And with this new superpower, I know you’ll be,
Hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not be sad,
For you have given me the gift of a dad.
Growing further now, our family tree,
While you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your voice,
As let’s face it, our family can drown out any noise.
Don’t worry about us, we know you’ll be,
Hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not wail,
As you are only just across the veil.
Through which I can perfectly see,
You hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your cake,
Always delicious, the perfect bake.
A great accompaniment to a cup of tea,
While you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not be blue,
Instead of a breakdown, I’ll have a breakthrough.
And fill myself with feelings of glee,
Knowing you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your cooking,
When in the kitchen, no-one else got a look in.
I wonder if you’re still a busy bee,
As you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not frown,
I’ll pull myself together, I will not melt down.
I will call upon your sovereignty,
Knowing you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember our holidays,
The sandy beaches and salty sprays.
But now it’s your turn to relax, just be,
Hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not be forlorn,
As I know rainbows often follow a storm.
So, I will dance amidst the rainy trees,
While you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your stories,
And bask in the tales of our family glories.
Each one of us strong, I think you’ll agree,
Knowing you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not weep,
For I know we have many memories to keep.
When I close my eyes, I know I’ll see,
You hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your smile,
And the tales of the men that you’d beguile.
Now it’s your time to rest easy,
As you’re hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not sob,
For I know that you have finished your job.
It’s time to retire, go ahead, you’re free,
Hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your laugh,
Your sense of humour, and how you’d be daft.
And now you leave us with this sound of gaiety,
Hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will not fear,
For I know that you will always be near.
It’s time to embrace your next journey,
Hand in hand, smiling down on me.

When I think of you, I will remember your strength,
As you embodied this fully right until your death.
Now I’ll never be alone, as you’ll forever be,
Hand in hand, smiling down on me.
